Heat and Proof Limited is an Auckland based underfloor heating, waterproofing and tiling company with partners sharing 30 + years experience in the industry.

We specialise in all tiled finished areas.   As part of our motto "do it once do it right" we recommend all work be completed in accordance with New Zealand Building Code.  We also recommend that all work be completed by licensed pratitioners.

As you are probably aware the building industry is going thru a lot of changes and we pride ourselves on being at the front of these developments in our industry.   Recently the building regulations have changed so that most consented work needs to be completed by a licensed building practitioner.  Although some renovation work does not require consent it is still important that work completed meets current building codes.  

A classic example is in bathroom floors where the old building code allowed particle board to be used.  Some houses are now suffering  consequences of leaked mosture causing a rotten floor.   I have been asked many times to patch up an old floor.  Unfortunately its not quite that simple.  In order for waterproofing warranties to hold all subfloor work needs to be completed to the new building code. 

In bathrooms this requires a marine grade plywood or compressed sheet to be installed in place of the old particle board.  The waterproofing membrane should then be installed by a licensed waterproofer over the compressed sheet.  The new tiles are now installed over the waterproofing membrane.  We recommend that compatible products are used from the beginning of the job.
